Wali M Ahmadzai M.S., PA-C


Wali  comes to Buttermilk Falls Pediatrics after 22 years of extensive, rigorous experience in the medical field. He is excited for the opportunity to welcome new patients! As part of the Ithaca medical community for several years, he is known for greeting his patients with a smile and treating them with respect and empathy. He believes in treating every patient holistically and strives to ensure that the patient and their family feel at ease and receive the care they need. 


“Dr.” Wali moved to the US in 2017 with his family. He and his wife are the proud parents of five wonderful kids, four energetic sons and a sweet daughter! The family loves spending time outdoors. Together, they’ve started a community volleyball team and have a wonderful time! 


Wali earned an M.D. degree in Afghanistan and completed a three-year residency at the American-funded CURE International Hospital in Kabul, followed by a fellowship in South Korea. Upon his return to Afghanistan, he spent five years as an attending physician in the Family Medicine Department and as the Head of the Echocardiology Department at the CURE hospital. Additionally, he worked for six years as a physician and cultural advisor for the U.S. Armed Forces in Afghanistan. In these roles, he had the opportunity to collaborate closely with American physicians. He passed exams and received additional certification in Advanced Echocardiography and became a registered cardiac sonographer and registered vascular specialist. Most recently, Wali graduated with honors from the LeMoyne College Physician Assistant Program in 2024. 


Wali also speaks English, Pashto, Dari, Farsi and Urdu.
